Across the U.S., farmers are struggling. Prices for nearly every major crop are below what it costs to grow them. Farmers in Mississippi are perhaps worse off than farmers in the rest of the country. Rice is one of their biggest crops, and almost no one is buying.
Hard Times in the Mississippi Delta as Farmers Consider Letting Crops Rot
Prices for nearly every major U.S. crop are below what it costs to grow them. But a drop in rice prices means another blow to farmers in Mississippi’s agricultural belt.

Constantly amazed by how effectively Virginia Guiffre having gotten a job working at Trump's Mar-a-Lago as a "spa attendant" because her father worked for Trump at Mar-a-Lago and she met Maxwell and Epstein at Trump's Mar-a-Lago has been buried by most of the press.

I'd just like to point out how weird it is that places with hundreds or even thousands of reporters — the NYT, WaPo, CBS, NBC, AP, etc. — are all getting pummeled on every major story by the dozen computerboys at Wired. To fumble the bag this consistently is, at some point, cowardice and a choice.

NEW: Metadata from the “raw” Epstein prison video shows approximately 2 minutes and 53 seconds were removed from one of two stitched-together clips. The cut starts right at the “missing minute.”

Health insurance industry PR is working overtime right now diverting blame to physicians for claim denials and rising costs. I feel compelled to remind everybody that Optum (UHC) is the largest employer of physicians in the US. We have never had less power in healthcare than we do right now.

Hello Bluesky. I co-wrote Oathbreakers, a history about how fast societies can fall apart when elites ignore pre-existing rifts and then pursue power with ruthlessness and lack of care for the consequences. And it’s shiny and has a sword on the cover.

Update, UHC says I need to do 6 weeks of physical therapy before they’ll pay for an MRI. The problem is my PT recently stopped accepting UHC because UHC slashed its PT coverage to the bone. So I’m looking at paying 5x my co-pay out of pocket for 6 weeks to get *eligible* for the MRI my doctor wants!
Update, UHC helpfully explained me that they approved “the site”—so, this hospital—to *hypothetically* perform MRIs for me, but they denied the *actual MRI*, and if I hadn’t called I would have been on the hook for the whole thing! Terrific system!
I am at the hospital right now to get a follow-up MRI on my spine. The hospital says my MRI has been approved by UHC. UHC sent me a letter denying authorization. Which is right? I don’t know! Guess I’m gonna spend an hour on the phone in the waiting room trying to find out!

He could declassify information he judges the public needs to know. He could sign worthwhile treaties the US hasn’t already joined. He could put more equipment bound for Ukraine on ships and get them sailing. He could organize a series of public health summits at the White House.

He could commute the sentences of federal prisoners on death row, for instance. He could fill vacancies, fire bad officials, replace them with worthy candidates whom Trump would have to dismiss. He could issue a series of reasoned executive orders recognizing limits on the powers of the presidency.

Yeah, I'm really bothered by Southpaw's framing here. My fiancée's autistic, enough so to get shuffled 'onto the short bus' (his words) in primary school. He thinks ABA is a scam. And the state I'm in is dealing with orgs using ABA services as cover for fraud. www.startribune.com/fbi-searchin...
