Cosmo Catalano - How The Race Was Won®
@howtheracewaswon.com
I tweet about bike races and things tangentially related to them. @cyclocosm at the old place, @howtheracewaswon on Threads and Insta, where you'll find most of my work recent work. https://howtheracewaswon.com for the rest.
As a guy who makes stuff in a lot of different formats, I've tended to be mostly OK with using the term "content" to describe it. But more recent developments have been causing me to rethink that evaluation.

I do get replies from this app. At one point I had a functional cross-posting script but then accidentally broke it, and haven’t been able to fix it because I’m too busy making memes (& dealing w/other technical issues)

a little disappointing they didn't post the source to that—they pull the data from pre-made routes on Google Maps, seems like it'd be trivial to create a new route that covers the GW

honestly expected a least *a little* pushback on the notion that Australians aren't normal, but nope—not a word against it.

I have actually wondered about this more often than I’d like to admit. I really want there to be some glib historical joke answer but it seems multifactorial, and well-established (at least since women started reliably having pro races to attend)

Wait, there’s a return deposit? Is this why I see way fewer plastic cups strewn across the course now than back in the aughts/early teens.

I don't care what the producer says, I am 100% wiping my face off ASAP after a race like this.

Big cheers for a visible tired Wout who takes the win, then threatens to hug various officials and VIPs as he rolls to the podium—AND some lunatic takes him up on the offer!
I *think* we'll get 25 lead-lap finishers, unless the graphics are out of sync.

is there some sort of race-determined cut-off for CX beer sales? Like baseball concessions closing up after the 7th inning?

4 laps to go 30+ minutes in. the way Wout is going there's gonna be 20 dudes on the lead lap today.

If you do flat today, it is somewhat less bad—slop and lower speeds make it less of a disadvantage, and a flat mud tire is still pretty grippy (until you try to change direction, shift your weight, ride a steep sidehill, hit a bump, etc)
