ADUs help individuals and small families find affordable homes and help older adults age in place with dignity and community--often in their own families' backyards.

The grant helps local govts promote the construction of ADUs, e.g. by offsetting costs for developing pre-approved ADU plans; providing technical assistance to homeowners; or waiving, reducing, or providing financial assistance for ADU-associated fees and other required costs.

(4/4) Years of planning, engagement, and council leadership made it possible. It’s a model for other Colorado cities looking to meaningfully address housing, climate, and cost of living challenges in one swoop.

- fourplexes, townhomes, cottage clusters in all neighborhoods,
- smaller lots,
- flexible parking,
- and even small neighborhood shops,
all while keeping familiar scale through height limits and building-size caps. These smaller homes have proven far more affordable.
