Superb finish. Max gave it everything 0.3 behind Antonelli, Oscar gave it everything 0.4 behind Russell. What a train behind Lawson for a wild run to the line. A bit of everything in this one.

I can't really believe what I'm seeing here. Norris clearly had pace over Piastri and the Mercedes drivers, but Max pops on a fresh set of softs with 16 to go, with a 14s deficit to Lando.
It's already fallen to 12s by Lap 57 but the tyre could drop off. "Nothing to lose", he says

I'm looking forward to sprint qualifying in under an hour. Norris and Piastri looked barely separable in FP, and it's almost not worth wondering if Verstappen can pull a lap out of the bag (he can).
If the race is wet on Sunday, I'd tentatively say that'd be advantage Verstappen.

Norris has to outscore Piastri by 3 & not lose more than 26 to Verstappen overall.
Piastri still has it in his own hands for now.

The DNF out of his control at Zandvoort was the one I was talking about there, but misjudgment battling his team mate in Canada threw away being 1st after the USGP tbh.

I think it's fair to say Max is keeping himself in with a chance of his 5th consecutive championship, which of course is the mark of a multiple champion. Were it not for Lando's DNF, things would be even tighter!
Leclerc was the difference in his race today too and nearly made it work.

If the softs hold together and Verstappen gets to within 40 points of Piastri with 5 races to go, it'd be a brave person to write off the four-time Champion.
If Lando gets a 5-second penalty, he'll possibly snatch defeat from the jaws of victory over Piastri. Like at Baku.

Sainz goes for his trademark move and ends up getting a huge race-ending whack on the front suspension with Antonelli. Frankly it was "six of one, half a dozen of the other" as they say. A racing incident of sorts, but maybe more optimistic from Sainz than he should've been
