Rarely feeling up to it but we persevere.
I beat it for the first time about 3 weeks ago and I feel that reaction. I walked away thinking it was okay, but I've never had a game that I wanted to connect this badly and just couldn't. Like I was subconsciously playing it out of some weird sense of obligation and it tainted the experience.

Even as modern dubs are more tightly translated and written, there's a reason the 4Kids dubs of Pokémon and Yu-Gi-Oh are still among the most well known in western anime. Even to this day, I don't think any western anime productions come close to just how far they managed to push those IPs.
