It's a good book, though!

After it while, you get shit like, "Cheryl said, 'You won't believe what Bob said! He told me, "Cheryl,"'" And let me stop right there, because this is exactly how this book reads, and eventually the double and single quotes are a migraine-inducing hash no one who wasn't microdosing could decipher.

I have this edition of this novel. You can feel the editor's brain melting. The framing device has a character narrating most of the novel as dialogue, e.g., "Bob said to Cheryl, 'Get down from there!' Cheryl looked around, then said, 'Down from where?'" Etc. Fine as far as it goes, but...
