“Indiana Nights” went into development at CBS in 1985 as a John Cougar Mellencamp vehicle wherein he solves farm-related crimes. After he turned down the role, they shot a pilot starring Steve Forbert but it wasn’t picked up.

As someone who still watches college basketball due to the Kings leaving Kansas City when I was 8 and resultant unbreakable emotional attachments, NBA officiating is exponentially the best basketball officiating on display.

He’s not the cheap option for “8th man on a good team” but that’s a role in which he can succeed. Forced into something more central and one develops an unfair “this guy can’t play” feeling.
