I agree there should be some intro to explain the timeline to new players. Still the timeline is why there is no X parasites in the game. I was just trying to answer a question to a newcomer to the series. Honest. It seems thats not what you were looking for though. My apologies.

The Prime series takes place before Metroid 2 which is when Samus went and destroyed all the metroids. Metroids were created to fight the X parasite. When Samus destroyed all the metroids in 2 it let the x to reproduce freely which caused Fusion & Dread's storyline. Hope this helps 👍
