I wonder if boomers - particularly ones who grew up more wealthy/middle class - were educated in such a way that the heroic view of Britain is a pillar of their internal belief system that makes them feel anxious and upset when rocked. The defensiveness is fully irrational.

Haha yes, like they resonated with the "when will this middle class white dude have enough of the unacceptable *humiliations* and *indignities* he endures to take his rightful place as master of the universe" conceit and then just stubbornly head-cannoned their way through the rest of the text.

It's fun how the writers of played with audience expectations of the "middle aged Karen" character in such an interesting, intelligent & refreshing way and a significant proportion of the fanbase just dug their heels in and refused to engage with the story as it actually played out in front of them

I feel like we need to reinstate prayers about being grateful or something because literally *no one* in the top 5% considers themselves wealthy in this country.

Liz failed to demonstrate how her growth plan would balance the books to fund massive tax cuts for the wealthy (which even the wealthy understand does not lead to more money flowing through the economy). Public sector investment, Keynesian job creation etc is an entirely different proposition

It's actually not very hard to review the materials you are linking to. I would say avoiding directing people to medical misinformation should be fairly high up the priority list of our national health service.

Yes! The thing that's really annoying about the "you can't look away" is that people are interested in these stories because they are unfathomable and they're hoping for insight, and this very same show teases insight episode after episode that it stubbornly refuses to deliver.

The show is just inexplicably bad & derivative (i.e. recycling Jackson adaptation plot points) in ways I find difficult to pin down to human error.

I can't imagine the writer who created KIM WEXLER wouldn't point out the uneven characterisation etc. "We have to keep that, shows gotta be 90% AI"
