I’ve been taking advantage of sales lately too. Still need to play Silent Hill, but that’s probably gonna be down the road. Def give Hell Is Us a shot if it interests you. There’s not really anything like it and the devs took a big swing. Just know it’s incredibly disturbing – it’s a brutal world.

So I get it. Online the wife and I have been getting smacked around way more lately than we were weeks ago. I do wish the items/weapons were scaled back a bit. I’m taken out of first almost immediately and continually have to fight to get back. I wish I could guard with a turtle shell behind me. Ha.

In Sonic, I have my driver cards set up to mitigate a lot of those interruptions. When I bump others racers, I get a speed boost. When I get hit with a weapon, I recover quicker. Things along those lines. But the game does have a couple items that are hard to avoid and have a blue shell-like impact.

I did fine without a map. It’s not one giant open world - it’s a bunch of open areas you fast travel between, easy enough to quickly learn the general layout. And there’s an adventure element, because you explore, talk to characters, learn about the world, and use items and info to solve puzzles.

Ya, that’s weird but happens. I’m sorta opposite with Sonic and Kirby, but I probably like Kirby already more than you have liked Sonic. I know it’s gonna take some time for me to gain balance and familiarity before I truly enjoy it. That’s how it went with the original Air Ride when I reviewed it.

Gonna get it as soon as I’m juggling less “short bursts” games. Looks incredible. I showed Tami a trailer a few days ago (she loves twin-stick shooters especially Geometry Wars) and she’s bummed it’s not on Switch 2. But she’s obsessed with Ball x Pit right now anyway. Can’t pull her away.

Finished SpongeBob: TOTT on PS5 today, so that’s one game out of the rotation. It was… fine. What I said the other day held true, plus the game was too short and backtracking just isn’t enjoyable if you want all collectibles. Hoping this team gets another shot and figures out level design next time.

I just watched the launch trailer for the DLC and noticed there were no voices. What the hell? That does suck. It sounds lifeless. SpongeBob usually never shuts the hell up, so when he’s not talking, it’s obvious and awkward. I’m guessing the character I heard who sounded liked Patrick was Big lol

It’s doing its own thing. I’m not watching anything else like it. I’m not sure there is much else like it. That’s a major part of the appeal.

It can be a little confusing bouncing around between numerous stories and many characters, but it’s getting easier the more I’m exposed to this world and its regulars.

The show almost feels inessential because of how casual the stories are, but that’s also a big part of the draw and charm?

Only two episodes in and City The Animation seems to be another worthwhile Prime Video animated show. It’s anime more specifically, with a very charming, lively art style, short slice-of-life stories with subtle connections to each other, and a comical approach with a high rate of eliciting a laugh.

And why is there no Switch 2 mouse support with this one? Far from essential, but I could definitely see myself using it.
