Yes, something that lets students avoid practicing critical thinking and puts additional burdens on what’s already a hard job for teachers will lead to less overall student achievement

We spend so much energy trying to make sure kids actually do the work and are not regurgitating LLM answers. Most of the time it’s easy to detect tho increasingly less so. But there are other instances I’m not sure about.

We don’t require anyone to pass a math test to graduate either, but they have to get a passing grade

It is a big part of the social studies curriculum. We don’t have a graduation exam in any subject.

The #1 thing for me is it’s destroying students’ ability/practice of locating, analyzing, and evaluating sources.

I say this as a high school civics/econ/history teacher at a well-performing public school that sends several kids to the ivies every year. The answer is yes.

Full employment economy with rising real wages was seen as terrible bc costs went up (again less than wages). “Big Fiscal” is dead for my lifetime, I’m afraid
