I am a 53 yr old independent living in Southern California. I am getting away from the stupidity that is X and MAGA morons. I also don't care for Blue MAGA.
Most people who have a profession like what they are doing. But that doesnt mean they always give the best effort.

Tariffs can be useful, if used in a limited fashion. Not by someone drunk with power.

You think the guy who thinks the average American parent purchases 37 dolls in a year understands affordability?
December 11, 2025 at 12:14 AM
Which is why I have said that we should do a hybrid approach. Have medicare for all where everyone gets a base level of medical care through that and if people want improved healthcare, they can pay for it through private insurance. Kind of like how we treat schools.

Maybe there is something to be said to taking a "Trumpian" approach to money we give to fund research. The government funds research. If you hit it big, the government takes a cut. The government uses that money to help fund public healthcare.

Healthcare is a complicated issue. Its what, 20% of our economy? And its personal to every American. There is a role for both universal healthcare and a private sector component. Its just a matter of finding the right balance.
December 10, 2025 at 5:49 PM
Not at all. I have said there is a role for universal healthcare. But there is also a role for the free market.
December 10, 2025 at 5:39 PM
Its not just research into better medical breakthroughs, its also innovation in providing better care in a more efficient manner.
December 10, 2025 at 5:31 PM
Universal healthcare is not the panacea people think. I am not against universal healthcare, but there is a role for the private sector when it comes to healthcare. We want to continue to encourage innovation and improvement in the system, and you don't get that with universal healthcare alone.

The ACA subsidies is a band aid. Americans have been dying for 15 years for more work on healthcare.
December 10, 2025 at 5:20 PM
What is the Democrat solution other than ACA subsidies? We can't just do subsidies. I said 15 years ago that I thought the ACA was a good first step, but we also need to tackle healthcare costs. Nobody has done anything about that for 15 years.
December 10, 2025 at 5:18 PM
Too many people focus on health insurance. The ACA was a step in the right direction, but we still need to address healthcare costs and nobody is talking about fixing that.
December 10, 2025 at 5:17 PM
You need profit to drive innovation and improvement to the system. All of these universal healthcare systems all over the world suffer from that problem.
December 10, 2025 at 5:13 PM
Yeah, Medicare and Medicaid suck. The paperwork from insurance companies are not that much better, but as you point out, they do pay more.

AI does not have critical thinking, because it can be used to mimic what is needed. I was suggesting where AI is used to mimic an interaction with a student similar to how I interacted with my teachers. AI finds a way to encourage curiousity and you go from there.
December 10, 2025 at 5:09 PM
Curiousity is required for critical thinking, which I had. I hated reading, but I was also really shy and didn't socialize much with the other kids. So my human interaction involved spending a lot of time with teachers after class discussing what the topic and trying to understand it more.
December 10, 2025 at 5:06 PM
Meaning we develop AI software and programs that have interactions with students to encourage critical thinking skills. Part of critical thinking involves engaging in others anyway, so maybe AI can serve a positive purpose here.
December 10, 2025 at 4:56 PM
Honestly, I wasn't a huge reader when I was young. I hated it. And as I have gotten older, I hate reading even more. But I still consider myself to be a critical thinker. AI is not going away. So maybe it can be part of the solution, instead of the problem.
December 10, 2025 at 4:54 PM
Okay. Don't disagree with you there. The Visa restrictions by this administration is going to make that even worse. This isn't a simple fix and there are going to be a lot of huge changes that will need to be made to make this at least somewhat work.
December 10, 2025 at 4:40 PM
Fair enough. So how would you fix that?
December 10, 2025 at 4:37 PM
Personally I think 12 is too many teams. I was fine with 4, but thought 8 might be the best. Once you get beyond 8, anybody you put in really has no shot at winning it, so I'm okay seeing more Cinderellas.

Individuals have a deeper emotional connection to a college than to a professional sports team. If you turn college football into semi-pro, that connection is broken and individuals will just focus more on the NFL.

I guess French doesn't appreciate all the money the government is going to make by selling out our country.
