If you'd told me last month that I will finish campaign in Europa Universalis V, I straight up wouldn't believe you. Yet here I am, having finished a playthrough, ruling the lands and seas as a global hegemony. Insane. Honestly didn't know I had it in me.

I knew Skate Story was going to be Bonkers Good(tm) but I did not expect "I need to quit in the middle of the demo and wait for full game" levels of Bonkers Good(tm)!

Stellar work.

another proof we are living in the worst timeline - Wheel of Time got cancelled.

Well, there goes that dream.

apropos of nothing, The Saint is a fantastic 90s action movie. In my opinion Val Kilmer's best role. If you haven't seen it recently, today is a good day to change that.

oh, apropos of nothing I did survive February and hanging in there during March.

I've been hankering for a Big-Meaty-Game(tm) so sink my teeth into and strangely I think I settled onto Victoria 3.

It's been a while sine I played a Paradox game - last one being CK3 so this might either consume me or spit me out after three hours.

I did it. Made it all the way through this terrible January.

still here.

last movie of my nostalgia playlist done. ending the campaign with a probably less known flick from Jude Law's Sci-fi oeuvre - The Repo Men (2010).

Had fun with that one, yet at times it got too real in its dystopian portrait of privatized healthcare. Still not bad by any means.
January 23, 2025 at 12:54 PM
second to last nostalgia viewing of my Fuck Anxiety January was Constantine (2005).

Crazy fun watching a birth of a proto John Wick. Keanu Reeves in another role where he plays a character named John (John Matrix from the movie Matrix (1999) is the other one).

Fun stuff.

as I enter the early 2000s part of my nostalgia journey, today's viewing was The Chronicles of Riddick (2004).

the VFX stuck out more than on many of the movies from the 90s but still had a lot of fun with pre-FF Vin Diesel and pre-The Boys Karl Urban.
January 21, 2025 at 3:07 PM
last movie from my 90's nostalgia list done. Today's viewing - The Boondock Saints (1999).

Dafoe gave masterclass on chewing the scenery and out of left field Billy Connolly was a cherry on top.

tomorrow we are boldly entering the 2000's as I have few more movies to watch.

finished reading Sanderson's Wind and Truth. I feel if you write this big door stopper of a book you you should be legally obligated to put in *some* more stuff in?

finished God of War: Ragnarok (PC) today. this might be the most game-ass game I played ever? enjoyed the main story and stayed around for post-game content which is very unusual for me as I tend to bounce right after finishing campaigns.

all in all fantastic experience. one of very few 5/5s for me

finishing the week with a banger of a nostalgia movie - Dark City (1998).

Talk about not making them as they used to. What a terrific dark and twisted little piece of weird fiction. Despite seeing it multiple times over the years it captivated me from the start and never let go until credits rolled

today's movie of choice was The X-Files: Fight the Future (1998).

While it felt like a longer episode of the series it is still awesome piece of best alien conspiracy show. While I don;t have it in me to rewatch the whole thing, Fight the Future gives enough of a taste to have your fill.

starting new week of my January's campaign. Today's viewing was a polarizing retro classic - Sphere (1998).

I liked it. Suspenseful moments really got to me. There is just something about oceans as a setting for horror/thriller that works wonders and really gets my imagination going. Fun stuff!
January 13, 2025 at 2:09 PM
last 90's retro movie before the weekend was The Game (1997)

Had a lot of fun with this one. I really miss that area's suspenseful thrillers that kept you on your toes for the whole run. Recommended!

a bit late update to today's retro nostalgia movie viewing - Chain Reaction (1996)

what a fantastic mid-90s schlocky action. did its job, kept me distracted for two hours of scheming.
January 9, 2025 at 8:42 PM
today's retro nostalgia viewing was probably one of the best representations of mid 90s aesthetic - Hackers (1995).

Fantastic movie with absolutely bonkers depiction of hacking and emerging Internet culture. Great watch.

Hack the planet!

continuing with my January's 90s retro nostalgia spree, today I watched Alien 3 (1992). This time it was Special Assembly Cut which totals the runtime at a whopping 2:24.

While this is not my favorite from the franchise I was solid action with great visuals and fantastic Charles Dance performance.
