James Carville needs to climb back under the rock he came from and stay there. I’ll never understand why anyone regards him as a voice worth hearing.

Gen Xer who grew up in Chicagoland here. It was the only year my family ever regularly watched football. Ranks right next to the Challenger explosion in the formative memories of childhood. And that response video is almost as tragic.

In other words, it’s quite plausible she sent something to her personal email she shouldn’t have—most people do. But who gets forgiveness for these foibles and who gets canned depends entirely on the favor or dislike of the powerful.

15 years after getting laid off for the first time with pretextual citation to a few minor errors over the previous six years, I can’t imagine anymore what it feels like NOT to live in daily terror that any compromise of professional records could lead to personal ruin.

Incredible how there’s no real verification for this. They just take your word for it.

Her character in Glee was deplorable, and her voice is grating. Count me in as vindicated in my bafflement that anyone liked listening to her.

Nothing gets my 17-year-old more angry at me than my making the faintest allusions to current events. She doesn’t want to hear ANY of it. When she turns 18 I’m sure she’ll vote D but until then the news just gives her impotent rage.

I’m pretty sure that was the root cause of the “rise and fall of Rome,” though that’s not the story that the “winner” male historians tell themselves.

Sounds like an abusive parent or spouse:

“You’re testing my patience by not quietly submitting to my authority. You’re lucky I haven’t thrown you out yet.”

$2 billion dollars worth, perhaps? Owned by ~10 families I’m sure.

(The estate tax exemption WAS set to go down at the end of this year to about $7 million per person, $14+ million for a married couple who bothers to engage an attorney for appropriate planning. Hardly small family farms.)

I’m a Wahoo &my rising 12th grader was planning on GMU until this year. I told her we can’t count on public or research universities anymore. She’s looking at a smaller private liberal arts university now that isn’t on politicians’ radar screens. Crying shame to ruin the nation’s oldest public unis.

The Harvard Journal of Law & Public Policy is basically the publication of Harvard’s Federalist Society chapter, not to be confused with Harvard Law Review

When a child finds out that not everyone punishes, shames, and ostracizes queer folk (or relegates women to being barefoot and pregnant), the enforcement mechanism is cracked. Especially for girls and queer kids, it informs them that there’s a better world outside their parents’ cult.

As someone who “deconstructed” from both evangelicalism and Catholicism, I can confidently say that these stories and teaching tips are an existential threat to patriarchal religious beliefs because these religions are maintained solely by shame, fear, and social pressure.

Conservatives believe that all women and marginalized identities in positions of authority are undeserving hires because they ONLY hire women and POC to be tokens.

Governor Spanberger should appoint him to the Board of Visitors as soon as she gets the chance to stick it to the reactionaries.

My parents at least had to pay for parochial school tuition and a subscription to a “creationist magazine” to feed me that garbage.

Yoder was a horrible decision in 1972. The American fetish for Amish-flavored fundamentalist abuse is a flaw with a long tail of horrors.
