A friend found out her husband had been employing sex workers will deployed over seas. He swore up and down he hadn't but the doctor insisted on a wide range of tests while she was pregnant and that test said he did.

This kid hates a fascist more than I do but I will now be on high alert. Him and I talk about EVERYTHING, to the point I immediately picked up on some low-key Internet indoctrination a few years back.

But teenage hormones are a wild ride, so I don't dare feel comfortable thinking he's immune.

I'm so mad about this because I put my nerdy little white boy into martial arts for confidence, discipline & to defend himself.

Was not banking on the potential for a side of white nationalist indoctrination.

Hopefully he'll just get good enough to beat the shit out of the whiny snowflaKKKes.

I should be able to take refuge in my gardens, they are my escape. As someone who loves all critters, finding the chipmunk who visits every morning decapitated, or the baby birds who finally made it out of the nest dead is enraging. This is my space, clean up your own cat shit and carnage.

This conversation always reminds me that up until the last few decades it was common to let dogs roam outdoors, even in large cities. Due to dog bites, pet injuries, and waste public campaigns slowly shifted attitudes.

Your outdoor cat is doing ecological harm and at far greater risk of death.

Tell me how you all value the quality of life of animals as I pick up chunks of species at risk gutted on my lawn. Or I drive a bird to an overwhelmed rehabber (2 hours round trip) to try & save it from a slow & painful infection. The smallest scratch leads to death due to bacteria in their claws.

I loathe my neighbours who allow their pet into my yard. I plant native species to support wildlife. Every spring I chase that cat away as it preys on fledglings learning to fly. Species I know for a fact are in decline. My butterflies, fireflies all get attacked while my cats watch from the widnow.

Funny because my family stopped allowing our cats outdoors after one got hit by a car and came home dragging his face on the ground. The next was killed by a fisher, a brutal death meaning he was eaten alive from his stomach.

The studies show categorically that an indoor cats live longer.

Yes! He is safe, happy and not doing extensive ecological damage. We are building a catio this year.

Catios allow our beloved pets to be outside, stay safe, and protects wildlife. If that's not possible backpacks and leashes exist.

Worth noting, the bacteria in a cats teeth mean just a scratch leads to a slow painful death by infection.

Outdoor cats are extension of human actions. They are an invasive species in most places. As such, the natural balance that keeps predator/prey populations in check doesn't apply. Our native species didn't evolve with protections for these lethal killers that hunt for fun, not even hunger.

I don't give a crud what an irresponsible owner thinks. And the point isn't resenting the cat, or feeding the cat, but seeing uncared for kitties. As someone who worked in shelters, far too many people are happy to abandon an injured cat who gets hurt outdoors or simply moves and abandons their pet.
