Richard, have you seen the world out there? It’s unsettled enough as it is. Let us keep some things consistent and comfortable.

Unless it’s one of those character limited text boxes on a grant application. Then I’ll jettison that double space faster than you can say ”typography”

I know. Sure, the convenience of buzzing people in is nice but sometimes low tech wins the day.

Then again, a few years ago they had to redo everybody’s locks and the stairwell door locks because they lost track of some universal keys the maintenance people had.

I’ve been critical of offsets but just to be clear, that’s not generally how they work. Forest offsets (from avoided deforestation or afforestation for example) are used to offset emissions from other sectors. For example, people voluntarily offsetting their flights. Or companies required to offset.

We couldn’t get into doing things like estimating actual costs of compliance. We had limited time and participants were not experts. But they did discuss who they thought should do compliance and how the costs of compliance should be covered. And some may have talked generally abt cost.
