She texted my daughter happy Thanksgiving yesterday but didn't text me. So I sent a happy Thanksgiving message to her just so she can't go around telling her friends I didn't talk to her on Thanksgiving.

(Boyfriend has a potential job opportunity, so we're waiting and hoping that pans out. I cannot wait to not need to ask for help from friends to survive and I promise, when I can afford to do so, I'll pay the kindness you've shown me forward to someone else who needs it.)

adoption cannot be understood without its underpinnings in colonization and conquest. it is strategic forgetting. an adopted child’s history begins at the point of acquisition; everything prior is set aside, obscured in myth.
