I guess it comes down to values. I have no problem with the Somalis, or really any immigrant group. I think their children will make fine and productive citizens. You obviously differ.

My wife and I briefly lived in NZ. And even speaking English it was rough to find work. We also lacked local qualifications and did not have networks of locals to leverage. Can’t imagine how rough it would’ve been if we had to learn a new language.

30% of the Somali population in Minnesota is under the age of 14 and cannot work or generate tax revenue. I’m not going to dispute that, as recent immigrants, they have less wealth than long-term US citizens.

Undocumented people cannot get EBT. So your assertion about food stamps is out. They can’t get public housing assistance, etc.
They can apply for WIC or SNAP on behalf of their citizen child. Which I have no problem with because there’s nothing wrong with feeding kids.

It sounds like you’ve never had to apply for aid. I lived in public housing when I was young, it is far more difficult to access these services than you make out.

I think the current structure has so alienated some groups that they view a centrally planned economy as preferable, not because they’re stupid or anything, but because they don’t see a way out for themselves.
I think markets can solve some problems, government investment can solve others.

I don’t know man. I grew up in pretty conservative areas and often heard literally any government regulation (from seat belts to municipal water purification) derided as socialism.
