It's funny how the centrist establishment was really pushing the 'tactical voting is our only hope' line in 2017/19, but now they don't mention it at all, it's Starmer or bust.

In theory it's a capacity issue I think - most Eurostar trains run nearly full. But I believe there's actually space to run more services through the tunnel, the main blocker is lack of train depot space, which really doesn't seem hard to fix, compared to building more runways etc

True, but you might also say what crossrail proves is that you can manage rail infrastructure investment incredibly badly and it will still pay off eventually because it's such a sound principle.

- it opens the Lib Dems to all the same political attack lines the Greens will get, and vice versa
- a Green party official isn't going to unilaterally make overtures because they'd be giving away leverage

I think it would be tacitly understood as a likely outcome, but I don't see the advantage of it being an official line. For one thing, if you end up in a situation where one of the two can be kingmaker without the other, then the idea of a coalition falls apart.

I can see obvious benefits to a pact to not stand opposing candidates. Though I believe Ed when he says the LDs are not trustworthy enough to make that work.

This seems a bizarre question. There's any number of reasons why it's a really bad idea to announce before an election who your coalition partners would be. That's why it's virtually never done. Why should the current Greens be any different?
