Use your turn signals. San Diego📍
#bikesky send me inspiration for the San Diego Bike Coalition’s Golden Gear Gala, bonus points if it’s you in fineries “dressed for your destination.”

(Also I’d say David Byrne “welcome to xbiking” but I’ll bet he’s already joined.)

Tragic result of a 5-lane road with multi-family residential, bus route, sharrows, 35 mph posted speed limit. This is one of the few non-conventional segments of the State Highway System owned / operated by Caltrans all of which are in Escondido, Coronado, or unincorporated County.

In these instances, I’m always a bit surprised the bike + ped sign isn’t used. Portland always uses them, here’s an example from LA too.

Me showing up to the Golden Gear Gala if we still had JUMP bikes 😢

Here’s the side that’s proposed for removal in one of the 3 alternatives. It’s very comfortable and the planters create a queue zone for turning cars that help prevent conflicts with bikes and peds.

With improvements on parallel streets added too, I think it’s a good example of the network approach to corridor planning (probably helped avoid opposition too). Presentation and Report from the time details lots of work done www.slideshare.net/slideshow/bi...

Quite a middle act in this video, Ray is routed onto 6-lane Harbor Dr. because bikes are prohibited from parallel parking lots & Embarcadero (Segment 1 of Bayshore Bikeway!)

We see a faded Class III bike route sign, posted speed limit of 25, but 40 markings still visible indicate the design speed.

@nerd4cities.bsky.social that was a fun ride yesterday. While you’re in town, you might take the train to Solana Beach. The rail line on the collapsing bluffs is a stark example of planning for climate resilience. The Coaster / Amtrak station’s land use may be seeing quite a bit of change with SB79.

It's a nice little e/w jog on an offset intersection connecting a low speed, low volume n/s route

Pretty significant drop here on a segment so confident in its 85th percentile speed limit that it was once marked on the pavement in each lane. Now to do something about the uncontrolled ramps (eb) and lack of sidewalks or bikeways on both sides of this local street designed like a freeway.

Another 5 mph reduction University Avenue in Hillcrest!

I love looking at 30th Street from my handlebars, 100% increase in cyclists since the protected bike lane was installed. Yes, look at 5th (then take a deep breath and your hate elsewhere)
