57. It's not a cult

This was a weird book but interesting nonetheless. I like books where you don't know what's real and what's not and as someone who loves engaging with music as a narrative tool and theory crafting this was even more haunting.

56. Gideon the Ninth

Yet another reread I enjoyed a lot. The audiobook fucking slaps and I am once again back on my Locked Tomb bullshit.

55. What stalks the deep

Man, what a weird book. Not bad just- narrative choices I did not expect. Loved the cast (once again) and for anyone looking for mining horror with a twist this might be for you.

54. Burning Roses

An interesting fairytale retelling I have to revisit at some point in the future to appreciate it more.

53. To clutch a razor

Reading this series for the fun polish folklore. Entertaining but not too engaging.

52. The Luminous Dead

This is one of the creepiest books I've ever read. The audiobook was amazing and I've got genuinely scared listening to this (maybe because caves just fuck me up in general). It's slow, it's draining and really cool.

The Raven Boys (Graphic Novel)

This will remain one of my favourite YA books of all time and the Graphic Novel is just as fun (even tho it lacks Stiefvaters wonderful way with words).

51. Hemlock and Silver

Probably my least favourite book by Kingfisher so far. Not bad just not as good as her other works. I like the setting and how it weaves historical understandings of medicine together with magic but all in all I think there was a lot of wasted potential in this one.

50. Carmilla

Look, sometimes you gotta reread your favourite vampire classic and mine is Carmilla. Read this when I was 10 and it's still a banger.

49. Against Technoableism

This might be a great book for people who are new to reading about ableism but for me I already knew about a lot of discourse discussed in this book.
The structure was nice tho.

48. Everything is Tuberculosis

Learned quite a lot about the history of this disease (and disease management in general) and got angry about the state of the world.

47. Parable of the Sower

This book will haunt me for a long time. One of the best dystopias I've read in a while and a book that made me feel sick to my bone. Read it in the right head space but read it!

46. Die Rettung

I gave literary fiction another go and once again got disappointed. This should have been more gothic!

45. The Incandescent

I honestly don't remember much about this book and that says a lot.
If you're into magic schools where the teachers are the protagonists and have some solid takes on teaching and some yuri give it a go. Also pretty predictable.

44. The Haar

Was it a great book? No. Was it damn entertaining? Oh yes.
Gory with an old lady that romances the horrors(tm) as a protagonist and very on the nose villains.
November 30, 2025 at 10:47 PM
43. The Bog Wife

This book is forgettable. It's not bad but there are books out there that are so much better at doing what this book sets out to do.
The idea is nice- everything else was truly mid.

42. Model Home

This book is by no means fun but it's haunting and amazing and a great take on gothic haunted house stories.
Rivers Solomon is on their way to becoming one of my favourite writers.

41. The Adventures of Amina Al-Sirafi

Reread what I can know comfortably call one of my favourite recent fantasy books.
Still as amazing and heartwarming the second time around.

40. Die Kinder hören Pink Floyd

Came for Pink Floyd, stayed for the weird narrative.
Not entirely my cup of tea but the authors relationship to the band made it really cool in the end.

39. Scottish Folktales of Coast and Sea

Wonderful tales that feel timeless in their language and range from fun to haunting.

Of Rats and Scares

Jahrelang habe ich gesucht, jetzt habe ich vielleicht endlich ein Vampir-System, mit dem ich warm werde.

Ich wage mich endlich an Wildsea als System, nachdem ich nur gutes drüber gehört habe.
