PS: In the meantime, who would be your candidates for a protein Superband? And how would it be called? “The Valine underground”, “Peptide Bond Jovi”? “U3 (snoRNP)”? Rage against the Myosin? “System of a Downstream Kinase?”
Let me know, I’m curious! 🙌

👋 To all the protein people out there, and all researchers, especially those who have to fear for their funding and positions right know: Keep up the great work! Keep swingin’ and let’s MAKE SCIENCE GREAT AGAIN! 💪

Research is driven by curiosity & enthusiasm but must be fuelled with money for researchers to work efficiently towards breakthroughs.
This is money well spent, money that drives societal developments, helps cure diseases and, when used smartly, helps protect the environment (from us)

🤝 And for exciting developments like this, we need science, good old science. And the obvious truth is, science costs money 💰

Example? Only recently, researchers found that the proteasome, our own cellular protein chipper, can chop proteins into small peptides with anti-bacterial activity, a potential new avenue to deal with emerging antibiotic-resistance.

👋 And oh, before I forget, besides jamming on weekends, proteins are these miraculous little fellas that not only keep our bodies up and running, no, they bare so many useful, and still unexplored features that could bring the next big scientific breakthrough.

🎺 “The new Fab Four”
(formally known as “The Extra Densities”, “The Ramachandran Experience”, Nick Cave and the Bad Beads, “Cigarettes after SAXS” and “MGMT (Met-Gly-Met-Thr)”.

🎶 Lay back, turn up the volume, and let them play a swinging tune for you.
