I think his planned period of time for rent control freeze and his willingness to open up development should work. My nervousness is that left leaning politicians tend to add requirements, with good intentions, that slow and increase the cost of building.

So reading this rent control is really just a tool to coerce those living in an area to support YIMBY policies, but doesn't necessarily lead to affordability unless enough housing gets built. The key risk as they stated, and my concern, is if the rent control prevents building, or demand is high.

I was mixed on Zohran, because he said he wanted more housing, but he also wanted a rent freeze. Those don't tend to go together. I've been more optimistic as time has gone that he will be a good mayor.
