Interesting keynote by Ellen Helsper at the @eui-eu.bsky.social conference on digital inequalities. The best predictor of digital literacy is…. print literacy.

Jiayang Wang passed her viva with minor revisions, with an impressive thesis on social class mobility in China. At the University of Edinburgh.

In Edinburgh for a viva, I couldn’t resist trying haggis, served with whisky. A lot better than when I once ate it at a food truck…

Interesting paper in Nature Genetics on the genetics of field of study. @rosacheesman.bsky.social presented it at the EUI sone time ago. I just note that the genetics propensity to the social sciences is opposite of agriculture. www.nature.com/articles/s41...

On Monday we organize this conference on social mobility at the @eui-eu.bsky.social’s Inequality Cluster. It’s fully booked, but if you’re at the EUI check out Emeroteca as it’s likely there are no-shows. I’m presenting new work on politics and social mobility. Creating political climate vars look:

Het was misschien een veeg teken dat Timmermans ook in 2023 minder dan de helft van de GL-PvdA stemmen kreeg. Yesilgoz kreeg toen > 80%, nu een stuk minder. nos.nl/l/2589311
