I’m writing up my reflections from Alicante, where I spent the last month or so, and where whatever the opposite of empathy is (disdain?) is all the president of the Valencian community has shown towards the victims of the floods of October 2024.

I’m just thinking about all the self-important people with whom I have worked who believe they demonstrate leadership when pointing to their rolodex.

Surely their reasoning is adequate in some other context…

I’m really just trying to convince myself I don’t work with deranged people.
