My statement on the murder of Alex Pretti, who’s life was taken by ICE in Minneapolis yesterday. This state violence will continue as long as our representatives refuse to do what is necessary and abolish ICE.

My statement on the recent death of Renee Good, the shooting of Yorlenys Zambrano-Contreras and Luis Moncada, and the invasion of American cities by ICE. If it can happen in Minneapolis and Portland, it can happen here in Lexington. #ReneeGood #Resist #ICE
Masked outsiders are invading and terrorizing our communities. In Minneapolis, an ICE agent killed Renee Good, a legal observer. Another ICE agent in Seattle shot Yorlenys Zambrano-Contreras and Luis Moncada, then fled the scene without rendering medical aid. ICE agents are abducting and jailing both legal residents and US citizens alike without due cause and without warrant. Over the past few days, they have escalated to wanton violence to suppress dissent. Make no mistake -- this is a purposeful move on the Trump administration's part. If ICE agents wear masks and cannot be identified, they cannot be held to account. It has become clear that ICE is engaged in a terror campaign across this nation. The goal is to make us afraid. The DHS under Trump wants ICE to be able to invade our communities with impunity. If elected, I would support a city ordinance to ban the use of masks and require visible identification for all DHS employees operating in an official capacity within Fayette County. She was going home after dropping off her child at school. She lost her life documenting the ongoing abuses of ICE agents in Minneapolis.
