Excursion from #geomorphology at its best in 🇬🇷
Bay of Voidokilias with Gialova lagoon. Perfect washover fans due to tsunamis (and storms?!) from the dunes into the Lagoon.
What a nice coincidence that such a textbook example is also outstandingly beautiful in terms of scenery.

Quite a lot going on over Europe during the day. The effects of the wildfires in Portugal and the approaching thunderstorms in southern Germany in the afternoon

Just arrived today and it is beatiful!
In addition to our first #scicomm for kids (free PDF here: www.researchgate.net/publication/...). it's great to see what can grow out of a large overarching project, in addition to the purely scientific results.

Thanks to @dfg.de for our #CRC806 2009-2021!

Curious about the last 7 days worldwide precipitation distribution?
I just found this video from gpm.nasa.gov/data/imerg

E.g. wonderful daily rhythm of convective precipitation in the tropics in contrast to the frontal systems in the temperate latitudes

#Geomorphology meets #Wine
This wineyard is the only one along the Moselle, dominated by Devoniam slate, in triassic sandstone (Buntsandstein). There was a major rockfall in 2023. @bernhardhofle.bsky.social , you are still observing in nearly Real-Time?!

Marine terraces in Corinth are for sure also very impressive and we also visited the during our trip. Fascinating, that these are the most uplifted marine terraces in the world and the second "fastest" tectonic rift of the world. Also the reason for the heavy gully erosion in Pliocene deposits

#fieldworkfriday 🇬🇷 from fieldtrip in #Mycenae around 3300 BP and #Franchti Cave, initial neolothic around 8500 BP. We had interesting discussions with the students about the history oh humanity, Imagine developments over the last millennia compare to the existence of Homo sapiens since 300ka
