Bonus pic of Zephyrus looking hot.

Zephyrus is also connected to swans. It’s believed swans would sing when the west wind blew and Zephyrus sometimes joined in the singing (sign my petition to have Will Graham sing in s4).

Swans are linked to the land of eternal spring and immortality. They drew Hycinthus’ chariot to the underworld.

Another of Zephyrus’ wives was Iris, goddess of the rainbow. (Enough said.)

He also fathered two horses with a harpy named Podarge who grew up to pull Achilles' chariot and were cared for by Patroclus.

Achilles calls for Zephyrus’ help to blow on Patroclus’ funeral pyre when it failed to light.

Zephyrus also blows his winds to transport the mortal Psyche from a clifftop toward Eros’ palace. However, when her sisters jump from the same clifftop believing he would also transport them, he does nothing and lets them fall to their death.

(Ahem, foreshadowing.)

In fact the way to tell him and Eros apart (both hot winged dudes) is that Zephyrus is usually shown pursuing men.

(Altogether now, “Is Hannibal in love with me?”)

There are several surviving red figure vases that depict Zephyrus and Hyacinthus having intercrural sex.

The thing Zephyrus is most famous for? His unrequited love for Hyacinthus, a handsome prince who rejects him in favour of Apollo.

Zephyrus blows the wind to deliberately direct a discus thrown by Apollo to strike Hyacinthus. He is killed and his spilt blood transforms into a hyacinth flower.

Bedelia is shown alongside him as the nymph Chloris/Flora who Zephyrus married after abducting her. To atone for the violence of the abduction he gives her dominion over flowers (hence the flowers spewing from her mouth).

Perhaps another hint that it’s Will that wants to track B down post fall.

Ever wondered why Hannibal draws Will as this winged guy?

He is Zephyrus, the personification of the west wind, symbolic of springtime and procreation to the Greeks. Known as the gentlest of the winds but also noted for his jealousy and strength, he was referred to as the death-bringer.

Survived bonfire night (had to actually talk to people). Having a lie down now to recover.

(Turns out it’s pretty tricky to paste Austen length sentences into character limited posts)

We have one of these. Ours is a bit more Parthenon Marbles-esque though.

He deserves so much love, you are absolutely correct.

It’s easy to understand how dodos went extinct, they just stand there and look at you. Or go back to sleep.

Pissing it down in Denmark if anyone was wondering.

Luckily we have Will Graham themed biscuits.

When Hannibal serves you pieces of yourself as a meal do you think he pairs it with a wine from your birth year, for that personal touch?

(*Not my birth year.)
