It's a cliche because it's true - you have to write for yourself and try not to judge yourself by metrics.
Having said that if you feel burned out, it can't hurt to take a short break to let yourself rest, and then get back into it with a clear head

Google confirmed it made it's search engine worse. Why? Easy, if people find what they want they don't see ads enough. People not seeing what they want means they search two or three more times which means more ads get seen.
