So, for an old-school holiday blog post, I listed 5 games I picked up along the way that pair nicely with the holiday season.

5 Holiday Season Comfort Food Video Games
Helltown covers soccer in the USA and beyond. Well, mostly soccer with a focus on Columbus Crew SC. Sometimes other sports. Sometimes no sport at all.

Thanks for mentioning it. I'll note it in my data because I think it's all going to YouTube eventually.

18 year old me in 94 would never believe this is where things are 30 years later.

Might be that this will be the most watched domestic league game of the year.

I haven't seen any Liga MX Uni numbers but with the YTTV change this NWSL match could sneak into the top 15-20 on US TV. Looking at you NBC Sports PR - need more NBC numbers. Publish or perish.

It's not rooting against it. We've been proven right over the last 15 years.

It doesn't match. They've also found themselves without many US players (which was a reason to watch in the old days).

Roster makeups look like temu version of top 5 leagues in Europe. The in-stadium draw appears to be for fans of cover bands. I can't go see Arsenal but I can see the Rapids!

They'll find that the TV market they left in 2023 will be completely different in 2029.

Do you think they know?

r/mls must be a treat. That type of fan has been on the wrong side of every move the league makes for a long time. I don't mind people who enjoy the league but to go crazy defending every move and slopping up every word from the don is gross.

In a similar boat. I mainly have it for my aging parents, but I love that I can record just about any movie pre-2000 (and the UI is good) so there is a lot of value for me there, but it's creeping towards $100 - and I can buy a lot of movies for that a month.

I see that as well. I'm an "old dad" of a 9 yr old and around a bunch of young millennial parents so I see it. Always wondering where all the kids have gone. USSF survived on the numbers and that train has left the building.

I think it never made sense bc it was incomplete. They wanted to sell their apple funded games to other nets and somehow didn't realize that Disney, Google, and every other network/tech company were apple competitors. I don't know if this is sportsbro meathead stuff or what.
November 15, 2025 at 12:37 PM
I bet apple wanted out 2027.

Paramount+ is a good possibility. In 2 yrs they will be trying to nab the PL (along with Apple).

Netflix likes the "big event," and MLS just doesn't have anything in its repertoire.

Ha, yeah. Very MLS but I think that might have been Apple showing them the door.
November 15, 2025 at 11:51 AM
How is it? I'm considering it.
November 15, 2025 at 11:21 AM
Looking ahead: MLS won't be able to find a deal like Apple gave them. They'll likely have to find something similar to the NWSL's.

The right move would be to work with Google (YT, YTTV). Even if it means no real TV deal. MLS basically survives on Expansion fees, gameday rev, and sponsors already.

Both sides were likely in a "just give me a reason" stance.

MLS investors have been squawking since last year that the league had become invisible. Apple obviously wasn't happy with sub totals bc they shut down season pass.
