I have clover, self-sown Greek oregano and creeping thyme in some parts of my lawn. I leave those areas uncut and it makes the yard more interesting for insects and myself. By mowing parts of my grass and leaving other parts, fussy neighbors and ill-informed local officials tolerate it.
