i also fagged up Valdeaulin a bit, but it's mostly for the flavor. something about him wearing one of those little scarves tied around the neck like a french guy from the 50s is deeply compelling to me. also, he does become a hobbyist photographer (courtesy of Tataru getting him a camera tbh).

her rebellious 60s

she's super young, far too young for that sort of responsibility, but she pulls it off. she's a very emotionally stable person to me. a real anchor. so she weathers what comes through the power of sometimes calling her father figures for help and just facing things head on w that resilience of hers.

renown and, obviously, Merlwyb's infamous 'and is [working with his wife] not punishment enough?'. she is right, of course, because she knows Fteli well. Severa, in turn, takes Gaius' canon place in the Werlytian military (with occasional advice from him, as she is his protegé).

it is, of course, forbidden to everyone ever to point out Fteli is in love with a guy who is basically his twin sister and Kythrima has a Thing with a woman who is basically her twin brother. because they don't care, mostly, and they're gonna turn that comment around into making YOU feel embarrassed

i could actually write many paragraphs as to why Kythrima takes to Gaius fairly quickly despite her history, how her personal bias for her brother is the initial push for it, how her Echo informs her decision so much, how she and Gaius (at that point) have similar moral stances and personalities.

she wasn't happy. she really wasn't. also the co-WoL does start having like... a biweekly breakdown about it all, but that's his jealousy issues that Fteli pretends not to see.
