My academic books have only ever known the (dis)comfort of the floor.

Today, they graduated to shelves, and they look fantastic. 📚💫

It took me all morning and part of the afternoon, but I have a freaking jungle dining room. 🪴😍🌱

I forsook the Navy this morning for the Army 10-Miler. 😆

I was 00:04:02 faster this year! Completed in 1h 55m 11s, averaging an 11:31 min/mile. 🏃🏼‍♀️💨🏅Nap time!

5K this morning at @visitoccoquan.bsky.social benefitting CFH Affordable Housing (cfhva.org).

I’ll probably do two laps, since I average six miles per run. 🏃🏼‍♀️💨

What is wild is that I’ve not heard of Private Snafu!

Scuttlebum, from what little I’ve found thus far, was featured in a series of posters displayed at the Damage Control Training Center at Philadelphia. Aside from his illustrator (Bil Sullivan), that’s it. I’ve found nothing else.

Thank you for the live-action shot of me at #McMullen2025, Mark! hope everyone who attended—standing room only!!—enjoyed our panel on damage control.

I plan to do *something* with The [Twenty] Tragedies of Scuttlebum: The Navy’s Damage Control Caricature, so stay tuned!

I ran into Dr. Ed Marolda (whose work I low-key fangirl over) at #McMullen2025, and he told me that my chapter in the forthcoming volume 𝘚𝘵𝘰𝘳𝘮𝘺 𝘚𝘦𝘢𝘴: 𝘛𝘩𝘦 𝘜𝘚 𝘕𝘢𝘷𝘺 𝘢𝘵 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘌𝘯𝘥 𝘰𝘧 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘝𝘪𝘦𝘵𝘯𝘢𝘮 𝘞𝘢𝘳 required **no edits** 🥹

He hopes @usni.org will release the volume in 2026. 📖 I can’t wait.

I may regret this. 🥵

Tending to my #UrbanJungle today.

This is but one of many microjungles in my apartment. 🌿🌱🪴🍃

Welp. I did the thing! 🏅🏃🏼‍♀️💨

And I was only 8 seconds slower than last year—my stomach was *not* having the pre-race navel orange, chocolate chewy granola bar, *and* GU in 91% humidity—so I’m taking this win. 💪🏼

In case you’re wondering where I am today:
August 16, 2025 at 7:33 PM
I hit 60 lbs. down today ~and~ crawling, sauntering, walking, jogging, running, and sprinting over 7,000 miles since I started this journey in August 2020. 💪🏼
July 13, 2025 at 4:38 PM
Not the greatest photo, but I just ran 6.2 miles so that tracks. 🏃🏼‍♀️💨

Finished the Fireworks 10K at Burke Lake Park in 1:13:22 for an 11-minute-and-49-second mile. 🎆🏅🎇

I really need to work on pacing; I’m terrible at it. #Runners: any suggestions for pacing?

A distraction from—well—everything: I grew this Alocasia Wentii bébé from a corm!

These solid round structures grow from the adult/mature plant, pulling away energy. So, if you notice your plant has stunted growth, check the roots! I popped the corm in moistened soil and put it under a grow light.

That image is 100% absolutely a combination of sweat and mist. Despite the humidity and the mist, I earned 2nd place in my age group! 🥈💪🏼🏃🏼‍♀️💨🥵
