I joined my local Makerspace so I can restore the multiple antique spinning wheels I have acquired, and I am seriously in danger of picking up woodworking. They have a lathe!!

I assume he’s doing Viking clothing or something like that. So now I’m making some samples from some wool that I have that is perfect for such a use. I have some Helsinge wool with a lovely long, staple length, and some Faroe Island wool.

I mean, there’s a lot of silly stuff in there that isn’t in practice today (and was just a story anyway). Most religious books are like that. Don’t overreact to bits of folklore.

As I understand it, a carbon credit is what you get when someone goes “hey you just made a ton of carbon you gotta make a tree to clean it up” and that guy makes him shut up by giving him a picture of a tree.

Those are the parts that actually do the spinning, and without them you’ve got nothing. Also, this wheel is completely missing the tread assembly, so the only way you can turn the wheel is with your hand. anyone who knows even a bit about spinning wheels would see quickly

She asked if I knew how to spin, and I told her that I did. Then she gestured at the wheel and said “well, it looks like it has all its parts, so that’s good.” Reader, at the moment she gestured, the front & back maidens, the flyer, bobbin, and whorl were in my bag and she couldn’t have seen them.
