We’ve lived in this house for three years. This weekend, I discovered that the previous owner never took the plastic film off the oven controls. This oven is probably a decade old.

It’s like having a new control panel after removing the plastic.

careerwise, I look back at two areas that I'm really proud of:

1. Doing a bunch of cool shit at AMD with a great team.
2. knowing that in the time I was at Indeed, my work (indirectly) helped a few million folks get jobs.

I don't think I can top that.

I stopped trying to attach meaning and fulfillment to anything work related. that's really hard to do in the data industry when 80% of the workloads out there are all about finding ways to shove more ads in front of people.

Now it's just finding things that are not aggravating.

Remember when the only PRD you needed was a beer-stained napkin from the bar?

Yeah. Good times.

I think I’ve been sick only once or twice since the eve of COVID. Part of it is avoiding high risk situations, washing hands more, and masks when in very close quarters (aka: airports and planes).

Someone’s just mad that he can’t plan all the “well, shit” outcomes ahead of time like a normal high functioning adult who has spent too much time driving back and forth to Home Depot.
