What are the genotypes promoting human colonization in S. aureus? Authors pooled >~7k genomes from >1500 ppl & looked at genomic variation to infer adaptation. Hits in metabolic genes (esp. nitrogen), QS, and antibiotic targets (incl. new resistance mutations). Cool!

We identified protein domains in LUCA (Last Universal Common Ancestor). Their distinctive amino acid usage reveals the order amino acids were added to the genetic code, based mostly on size.
