I much prefer hard copy. But the Kindle app means I'm never without something to read travelling, and the light does help. I also use the Libby app to borrow library books - that might be a good way for you to try the experience? You have to be a member of a local library, I think.

It's so basic though... ensuring diversity, not just of gender, should be second nature to any event organiser. Not least because it gets you better discussions.
