Lots of good folks at the CDC fought to acknowledge airborne transmission, but the leadership was clinging to the outdated droplet model that cost time and lives. Unfortunately sanitizing the air means expensive building retrofits instead of cheap sanitizer and "personal responsibility".

Oh they 100% haven't, but that's kind of my point. The US isn't a coldly rational profit seeking machine despite what they tell you. The problem is the systems that are effective are expensive and invisible. Antiseptic atomizers are basically useless, but an HVAC system that can do 5 air exchanges per hour are almost unnoticeable beyond a nice smell or sensation.
