Took my daughter for a tour of the International Criminal Court in the Hague today. I hate that this court needs to exist, but I'm beyond glad that it does. There are a couple of folks with outstanding arrest warrants who I deeply hope are soon sitting inside being referred to as "defendant."

Seeing this old olive tree, I now have a clear and distinct idea of the truest meaning of the word, "gnarled."

I don't know what this tells us, but it feels like it should tell us something. Maybe that the Orthodox communion are a bunch of stuck ups? Hmmm.

This Roman ampitheatre in Lyon is stunning, and it's truly impressive and a bit mind-wobbling how they had a PA and lighting rig that is state of the art even by today's standards. Those Romans had it going on!!!

The review of our set from the Bühl Bluegrass Fest in Baden, Germany Y'all. They say they've never seen or heard anything like it, that we were really loud and wild, and that it was the first full-on "rock concert" ever given by a bluegrass band there. We'll take that!

It's enough to make you think, if you're so inclined.

The 3 words "post-war economic boom" are doing much work here without being properly explained: the rest of the developed world was in ruins from WWII & the US had all the industry.

This couldn't last. The "post-war boom" was a particular historical moment, not the result of inherent US supremacy.

A friend passed this along to me today. And the really interesting thing to me here is . . . I honestly have no idea if this is satire or if this is earnest. It could truly be either and it would look exactly like this!

Where's his tie? Does he even own a tie?!?

Paying a visit to the waterfall around the corner from Heidegger's Haus in the Hochschwarzwald, Y'all. I wrote a song about it. You wanna hear it? Here it is:

@helenbarrett.bsky.social Maybe it's time for Hayseed Dixie to record that Depeche Mode album, "Music for. the Grasses." Side one:

Blasphemous Rumours
Everything Counts
Master and Servant
Never Let Me Down
Fly on the Windscreen

Now taking suggestions for side 2!!! Operators are standing by!

If there is a good use for so-called AI, then it is to create this:

Mr. T enjoys ice tea with ice cube with Ice T and Ice Cube.

The wife is at a yoga retreat, one daughter is on a school ski trip and the other daughter is out with friends. You know what that means . . .

Oh yeah. It's gnarly guitar tone time!

When you're sitting in your studio mixing on some tracks you just cut, you don't need to be drinking the local Schmucker Bier out of a matching glass, or wearing a silly English hat, but it doesn't hurt anything either. Prost!

Fascinating stuff here from the FT. Couldn't call it unexpected that as wealth has been increasingly concentrated in fewer & fewer tech elites, everybody else has become more & more reliant on government money.

Home truths coming. There is only so much pain you can blame on other poor people.

Coming in October to the UK, the Hayseed Dixie "Why the hell have we never had a beer here before?" tour. This tour is taking place entirely in towns where the band has not yet played and after regular UK touring for the past 21 years, we've had to dig deep. And so should you.

Remember this from 2018? It was the cover story they were all talking.

These are the 6 different views of the same scene which made up the 6 different album covers of Led Zep's "In Through the Out Door."

Some of you may know this, but it was shot on a set, built from scratch to look like a bar in New Orleans. Every detail was crafted just for this picture.
