From a theoretical perspective, there is no reason that these timescales must be the same. Yet, I don't buy into accidental agreements.. We'll look into this some more.

Hi Maya! The biggest surprise was that population transfer between two degenerate states in the square symmetric molecule happens at exactly the same timescale (60 fs) as electronic dephasing, i.e. decay of the superposition of those two states. We are trying to find out if this is a coincidence.
