bought it in first order from school book group in 1979. the riddle had been solved but the paintings are so beguiling. i poured over it for months. tried to solve it myself but even knowing the trick - you had to align an eye with a finger and go to letters on the border - i found it impossible.

it was such a lovely book. i had the paperback and poured over it even though the riddle had been solved and the hare found. it was so hard to break the code!

that fig bauble so lovely.

the book was so lovely! i had a paperback edition from the book club at school. wish i still had it. insanely complicated clues that spelled a message 'close by amphill' IIRC. here lies the jewels of masquerade 'for you or eternity'. i was 10 years old. 1980.

carrots and parsnips mashed together is how my mum used to do them. lovely with a bit of butter and black pepper 😋

quite the leap from podcaster to head of homeland security. still, at least he's putting the FBI private jets to good use. last stop nashville. <he's a liverpool supporter so i want to give him the benefit of the doubt>

this column as smugly irritating as 'thought for the day'. just a parade of sanctimonious idiots.

this is definitely ‘abject misery’ territory 😁 if we did break glass anyone coming in would have very little training time to make changes and it’s not as if we’ve got a load of fit options to switch into the front line.

he will ‘ask for forgiveness’ and his side of the aisle will laud him for helping steer the nation through a difficult time etc
November 27, 2025 at 8:02 AM
yeah I love all the veggies. Vichy carrots, savoy cabbage - Brussels sprouts possibly the only food thing I’d say that I dislike - duck fat spuds and gravy nommy nom 😁

I hear you but when a side is in free fall the only real option is regime change but you are right to point out that caretaker options seem limited unless Klopp fancied coming out of retirement. like can Arne get belief back into these shattered egos?

I haven’t done turkey since before lockdown and was defo brining back then. think I’d rather get a capon if going down that route. all the delicious fat. super succulent.
November 27, 2025 at 7:34 AM
I really feel for the slotmeister but when you are in free fall changing the manager is perhaps the only break glass option 😔
November 27, 2025 at 7:33 AM
not training at the moment so not sure he’s up to starting.
