Sikh. Inquilab. (she/her). Hard on issues, soft on people. Antidote to despair is collective struggle.

New here - mostly find me IRL organizing, in internationalist collectives & networks.
Cbsa offices have been shut down!! No more detentions, no more deportations

Falling for anti-migrant racism doesn't protect workers, it entrenches capitalism by making workers more vulnerable & exploitable! Our enemy arrives in limousine, not someone on a boat fleeing colonial devastation.

Being pro-migrant is central to our collective fight against fascism!

Polls show increasing support (over 70 percent) for immigration restriction. These racist policies have been justified under the false austerity logic of "not enough resources". As billionaires & banks & bosses make record profits - largely on the backs of migrant labour!!!

5. While some places (EU, US etc) use active militarization as deterrence, Canada's geographic location allows it to use slow bureaucratic violence as deterrence. Processing times for many PR streams is now 50 years (!).

4. At a provincial level, governments are also restricting immigration. Ontario, literally overnight, cancelled its ONIP skilled trades stream and Quebec has ended its PEQ stream. This leaves thousands of workers in limbo and distress.

3. Bill C-12 being pushed through by Carney is a MASS machinery of deportation. It allows Canada to deport refugees without a hearing and grants mass immigration status-cancellation powers to ministers (internal documents released to CBC suggest targeting people from Punjab, India, and Bangladesh).

2. Now the new budget further slashes refugee & humanitarian spots by over 10,000; cuts international student numbers in half (mostly students from Punjab and India); introduces co-pays that will deny refugees basic healthcare; and reduces temporary residents by 43 percent compared to 2025 numbers.

1. Already, in 2025, the number of international students (who subsidize increasingly privatized post-secondary education) and migrant workers has dropped by 53 percent compared to last year. Refugee claims have also been reduced by about 30 percent compared to 2024.
