Supreme Court takes up important election law case— republican challenge to Missouri law permitting mail in ballots to be counted after election day. Q will be if they find a legal requirement for one consistent federal rule notwithstanding states are supposed to be in charge of election procedures.

Giuliani, Eastman, Cheseboro, and Powell are all unindicted co-conspirators in Trump indictment for the election crimes. Smith kept them off to streamline the case, with it always seemed future plans to indict. A total whitewash. Possibility remains of state charges, esp in Georgia. What a travesty.

A whole other form of partial and political justice. Trump pardons list of allies who worked to reverse his election loss in 2020. Many of them, especially Mark Meadows, know where the bodies are buried. A vile miscarriage of justice. Includes Rudy, Sidney Powell, John Eastman, & Ken Cheseboro.

Just back from seeing old friend Steve Earle perform next door in Montclair. Grizzled, sure, but sounding better than ever, 50 years down the road. He closed with City of Immigrants -- about as good an answer as I've heard to the MAGA blood and soil fascists. Listen. www.youtube.com/watch?v=75H8...

Fist circuit denies emergent relief from district court order requiring resumption of SNAP food payments. Administration rushes to Supreme Court. Why they’re hellbent on this one is hard to understand— it’s patently cruel.

Jury acquits "sandwich guy," who threw a sandwich in plain view at agent. Some issue with whether it caused injury -- dozens of puns on Bluesky and elsewhere about that -- but seems to be a strong repudiation of the overreach of the Trump immigration operation.

Had to happen at some point, but this is the worst rebuke of an FBI director by the rank and file that i have ever seen. A typical FBI director in a typical DOJ wouldn't be able to survive it.

another really important point from @annabower.bsky.social . the truth is the recitation of evidence has basically nothing to do w/ the motion to dismiss for selective prosecution. it just serves to make Comey look bad. here to make him look like he's not truthful when he is (b/c Richman not w/ FBI)
DOJ sets out its case against Comey in the most detail yet.

But the evidence in the brief doesn’t show that Comey lied about authorizing someone at the FBI (Richman) to be an anonymous source in media reports.

And much of it relates to events that occurred *after* Richman resigned from the FBI!
NEW: The government's response to James Comey's motion to dismiss for selective or vindictive prosecution is in.
