Writing queer horror that’s always weird, and occasionally about parasites. (They/Them)

My writing advice? Find an activity that fully empties your skull, and make it a part of your daily routine. Exercise, art, video games, snowboarding, cooking; anything that leaves NO ROOM for intrusive thoughts or obsession. Brains need oil changes to maintain peak performance. Be stupid once a day

Hiya, folks! Since we got a rush of new followers yesterday, we thought we'd do a quick reintroduction thread. 🧵

So, welcome! We're Cat Eye Press, an indie horror publisher. Our EIC is @acbauer.bsky.social but the real brains of the operation is our fiendish feline mascot Frankie the Cat!

The book that I mentioned on QAA by @alexwoodroe.com is Whisperwood. I can't recommend it enough. It's a solid piece of folk horror, a kind of Romanian Witcher. Alex even has a new book, The Night Ship, out next week. You can follow her here: alexwoodroe.com

So living with my parents abruptly became unsafe (mentally/emotionally) and I'm leaving ASAP. I have somewhere to go, but it's out of state. I'm packing now but I have to register my car before I go and that's $500. Anything helps. 🫀

New Year, New Terrors inbound!

February brings @kristalstittle.bsky.social's KAYAK, whose DNA can be traced to the classic survival novel HATCHET as well as A QUIET PLACE & THE WALKING DEAD, but spun into a unique, impossibly tense alien invasion sci-horror.

In the past couple months, designed and printed two new long sleeve shirts for @littleghostsbooks.bsky.social

Hope to make fun pieces that I’d be happy to wear, and was pretty pleased with how it these turned out. Hand printing sleeves is tricky! But I think worth the effort.

Social media is a hellscape, every tech company is evil, so we are back to blogging like it’s the early 2000s!

Just an intro to being a terrible entrepreneur, looking back on my first shop, and a little rant about the costs of everything. Y’know, light stuff.
