These are our neighbors.  Some need help more than ever right now.  When we step up, we’re not just helping them survive; we’re building a safer, stronger Harris County for everyone.

So today, Harris County, we're asking you to join us by doing something simple. Can you donate your time? Your money? Bags of food to your local food bank?

You've heard DA Sean Teare call these “crime drivers" that, if left to fester, will reverse the progress we’re making to break the cycle of crime and violence.

Anyone serious about reducing violent crime should also care about attacking its root causes: poverty, lack of education, inadequate infrastructure, and limited upward mobility.

This isn't just a humanitarian challenge—it's a public safety issue.

Which is why HCDAO joined Precinct 4 alongside West Houston Assistance Ministries to do our part.

This is his story through the eyes of Joe’s parents.

Yes, our work at HCDAO is rooted in facts—because justice demands truth. But we must remember the victims & survivors at the heart of every case.

Their stories matter.
Their voices matter.
Every day, we fight in their name.

Today is for Joe.

He was 33 years old. He was getting his degree, pursuing his passion in audio/photography.

Joe was just getting started.

A jury found Chambers guilty of Manslaughter, recently sentencing her to 11 years and 14 days in prison. Joe's birthday was November 14.  In ten days, he would have turned 35

On April 19, 2023, Joe had just walked out of the VooDoo Donuts on Westheimer while on a first date. Kristina Chambers, driving 70 MPH in her Porsche with a blood alcohol content of .301 (four times the legal limit), hit and killed Joe in the parking lot.

Remembering the women and men killed by Domestic Violence this DV Awareness month—and always.
October 28, 2025 at 5:33 PM
It’s the promise from District Attorney Sean Teare as HCDAO honored our Domestic Violence victims at our first Domestic Violence Vigil. We are proud of the work our new DV Bureau has done to change the DV narrative—to reach survivors with resources.  Prevention is key.  Prevention is life-saving.

Joe loved Houston. He was proud to be from Harris County. He trusted his community—strangers and all.

So, since April 19, 2023, when Kristina Chambers drove 70 MPH down Westheimer in her Porsche with a blood alcohol content of .301 (four times the legal limit)...

They were daughters. They were mothers. They were wives. They were friends. May we remember their smiles, their legacies, their love—always. But especially during Domestic Violence Awareness month.

These are just a few of our Domestic Violence victims who changed the lives of HCDAO prosecutors, advocates, and social workers. They are the women whose lives and cases deeply impacted the people who fought tirelessly on their behalf.
