Quite a pleasant and welcome surprise to see a women's football magazine on the shelves of WH Smith in England. @shekicks.bsky.social

First time I've seen it.

I’m no longer in charge of running World Soccer Talk, but this isn’t a goodbye.

After selling World Soccer Talk in 2022 and transitioning the site to the new owners, I’ve accepted a position at a different company.

WST will continue without me. It's been a wonderful 20-year journey, so thank you!

My latest article for World Soccer Talk. This one focuses on how US Soccer should be called to task for the statement it released after it won the case against NASL in the antitrust lawsuit.

US Soccer is living in an alternate reality.

In the last 2 years, two of my favorite bands have retired. I wish Front 242 and Midnight Oil could keep going. The Rolling Stones are still doing it, so there's hope still.

Offering MLS Season Pass for free is a double-edged sword for both MLS and Apple. By offering a product for free, you reduce its perceived value.

Here's my take at @worldsoccertalk at whether the strategy by Apple TV and MLS will pay off for the league:

So after 144 games that have been played so far this season in the UEFA Champions League, we end up with a league bracket where the bottom 12 teams that are relegated are no surprise to anyone.

The #UCL this year feels elitist, devoid of shocks and way too drawn out.

Head of Global Soccer is the perfect role for Jurgen Klopp as long as he doesn't have to do too many future press conferences with the media. Judging by today's presser in Salzburg, he's still too impatient with the press.

I'm sure he's looking forward to working behind the scenes more often.

If you spend enough time talking to MLS fans & journos, you'll often hear the same excuse...

"Yeah but the league isn't as old as other leagues." That's true, but with #MLS celebrating 30 seasons this year, it's time for the age excuse to stop.

A huge day for #Fubo and #Disney, but what does it mean for soccer fans once the deal is approved by shareholders and regulatory authorities? Here's my latest article for World Soccer Talk

More than 2 million watched the Liga MX final, which is impressive but lower than last year. At the same time, the league has been going through plenty of growing pains due to #LeaguesCup participation and the clubs being unable to agree to a league-wide TV deal.

Netflix's deal with FIFA for the Women's World Cup is a groundbreaker...

Not just for women's soccer in the US but also for the men's side of the sport. Netflix will breathe much-needed fresh air into coverage of soccer on US television.

According to a climate change expert, FIFA’s Club World Cup in cities across the U.S. next summer could see fans and players suffer from extreme temperatures due to the effects of climate change at #FIFACWC.

The heat index for some games could reach 100°F 🔥

Excited to hear that a brand-new professional women's club will start playing in 2025 in my area. @sportingjax.bsky.social will play at the University of North Florida as part of the #USLSuperLeague. Great to see professional soccer finally coming to Jacksonville.

Just returned this week from a soccer trip in Germany. Highlights included my first visit to Bayern Munich and RB Leipzig (pictured).

It was so nice to see the Christmas markets in Germany and to dabble in currywurst.
