If located in nyc, hearts & bones rescue has a wide variety of breeds and is supposed to be well run. The same is true of Sean Casey, second chance, and badass animal rescue! If looking for a particular breed, some tiny rescues specialize (I got my shiba from New England Shiba Rescue for example!)
