DeepSeek R1 finished training in 8-bit, it wasn't "quantized" after training. That means there's no point running it in 16-bit and no one does... But Google's Gemma blog developers.googleblog.com/en/gemma-3-q... compares to running R1 in 16-bit to make it look bigger/worse.
