I'm perplexed by a comment from a Russian woman who opposes the war yet argues it's "better" to send murderers to the front instead of mobilized conscripts. She wants the war to end, but this logic shows how deeply warped and broken the moral landscape has become in Russia.

According to CBS News, #Ukraine government had "agreed to a peace deal" brokered by the Trump administration, with only "minor details" to settle. But no word from Russia.

Twice overnight, unidentified balloons forced Vilnius Airport to halt operations. Navigation systems detected possible contraband balloons from #Belarus. At least 5 flights were canceled, others delayed or diverted. The Lukashenka regime doesn't stop its provocations.

This plan doesn't guarantee the end of the war - because it doesn't require Russia to withdraw its troops or weapons, doesn't limit Moscow's ability to rearm, and doesn't establish any real security guarantees for #Ukraine. It pauses fighting without addressing the cause of it.

#Ukraine cannot be pressured into giving up its sovereignty or its territories. That approach grants Putin permission to strike again. The future of the region - and the continent - is being decided right now, and I wish to see the urgency or the resolve this moment demands.

#Belarus Lukashenka announced that negotiations with the US are planned by the end of the year. We must push for the release of all political prisoners - over 1,200 remain detained. Lukashenka is trying to fool the US and gain more concessions while continuing arrests.

Catholic priests Henrykh Akalatovich and Andrzej Yukhnevich have been released from prison in #Belarus. It is such a relief - Father Henrykh's health worsened while detained. Repression against clergy must end, and the regime must uphold religious freedoms.

#Lithuania has decided to reopen two border crossings with #Belarus after more than two weeks of closure. Interior Minister Vladislav Kondratovič says the Belarusian side welcomes the move, but there is still no news on the stranded Lithuanian trucks.

#Belarus has rejected #Lithuania's request to release its blocked trucks. Vilnius twice urged Minsk to allow Lithuanian drivers to retrieve their vehicles stranded at the temporarily closed crossings. This is a hostage situation, and the Lukashenka regime is complicit in it.
