I have an eight year old daughter and, unfortunately, this is very relatable

These cost about that price! I’ve worn them for three winters and had them resoled once before at a cost of £40. There is no value in me spending £120 to get one more winter max out of them (the leather is getting weak)

I guess so, and overheads. But that’s still disproportionate to the value of using the service

No, I’m not paying. If I can’t find it cheaper I will buy a new with tags pair on Vinted instead. If we want a circular economy we have to actually make it an economy… there’s no way 4 soles (inside and outside, plus half an hour’s labour) can cost more than a new pair of leather boots.

(Yes the headline makes me wince because I'm British, but please read... I promise it's definitely not a stream of arrogant self-congrats)

Yup: I am allergic to peas, lentils and chickpeas (cue much hilarity) and married to a vegetarian. And have children allergic to milk and eggs. Don't invite us to dinner as a family.

Can't find the McMaster Uni one now, but here is an Imperial one. Lots of research ongoing.

It’s remarkable how accommodating and thoughtful their 5 and 8 year old classmates are compared to *actual adults* on this stuff. Have hope for the next generation.

🤣

Happily science keeps on moving and Canadian medics have designed an MRNA vaccine that seems to be effective in treating peanut allergy. Tests are still ongoing, and it’s being tried with other substances too, but I try to focus on this as it gives me hope.

And that’s partly thanks to the wilful, gloating ignorance Sitwell and his audience, who revel in their luck of having had an easier ride.

They would never speak like this about a family whose child has cancer.
